What is the difference between press and steam espresso makers?

There seems to be such a wide range of prices for makers. I want to get one for Christmas but do not have a ton of money.

I don’t understand your question . . . Do you want to know the difference between a French Press and espresso machine?

Because I don’t know of an espresso press machine.

AFAIK, all espresso machines are steam machines. And French Press coffee is good, but different from espresso.

Espresso forces steam thru packed coffee grounds.

A French Press mixes hot water and grounds, steeps the grounds for a minute, then pushes the grounds out of the way with a filter.

Do you have a Starbocks around you? (I don’t like Starbucks, but they do serve both espresso and french press coffee.) Order an espresso, and a cup of french press coffee, and compare, OK?

    Good luck! :o )
