What is the difference between a coffee machine and espresso machine?

I bought an espresso machine, and i can't tell the difference between this and a regular coffee machine, it does the same thing doesn't it? i know it has a milk frothing arm on it, but is that the only difference?

Espresso uses far less water, and runs through a more complicated system before it gets to your cup.

Sounds like you got ripped off. An espresso machine has a high pressure steam tank for blowing hot steam through finely ground coffee. Regular coffee makers just drip or peculate through.
