This espresso maker is wonderful. Easy to use. Heavy duty, good quality. Easy to assemble and disassemble. Pretty sitting on the stove. I really don’t have anything negative to say about this. It cleans up well. It much nicer looking than the other dull aluminum espresso makers. It is also safer for your health, as its made out of stainless steel, as opposed to potentially hazardous aluminum. For those not familiar with espresso makers, its not an actual 4 ‘cup’ pot (as in 32 oz.) It is a 4 ‘espresso serving’ size pot. The actual water well in the bottom holds about 8 ounces (each espresso serving is about 2 ounces). The handle gets a little warm if you put the flame up to high, but that’s just a matter of physics, as opposed to design.

Except for size, this is identical to the larger, 6 cup model (and this review also appears on that page).

A fantastic stainless steel espresso maker. Looks very nice on the stove (says my wife), and is well built. The threads are large and very smooth, and the handle is great. (We put the pot on the edge of our electric burner, so the handle never gets hot anyway, but it is just the right size and very sturdy, kind of like a matte finish Faberware pot handle).

Mine didn’t come with directions, but Cuban friends taught me how to use it. I also found excellent directions quickly searching on the Web.

I have a trick for getting rid of the odor of a new gasket. First, follow the advice on the tiny “recommendations” tag to brew several batches not for drinking (I reused the same grounds a couple of times). Then, mix a 1:2 solution of baking soda to water, just enough to submerge the gasket. Let the gasket sit in the solution overnight, and in the morning, you are ready to go!

For trouble free brewing, make sure their aren’t any coffee grounds or water droplets in the threads, and tighten securely.

We enjoy either Pilon or Bustelo, affordable and easy to find at supermarkets, and we look forward to trying some espresso beans to grind at home.

My wife and I are typical coffee enthusiasts, so the six-cup size is just right for two large cortaditos in the morning. Also works out when we have a guest or two over who want straight espresso. (We bought the little set of four white BIA Cordon Bleu espresso cups with this.)

Liked this and the cups so much we sent the 4-cup (otherwise identical) model and the cups to friends as a housewarming gift.

Tip: To easily twist off the base after brewing, pour your coffee out quickly, then run cool water over the base and seal area until the base is cool to the touch. Effortless removal this way. (And not too hard just letting it cool by itself.)

I’ve been using this espresso maker for a couple months now and love it. It’s simple to operate and clean, and seems pretty sturdy. No complaints at all. It was even delivered early.

    Love this thing!

I searched and searched for an non aluminum version for under $30 and this was the only one I could fine. I was skeptical but it works great. Keeps a great seal!

I got this little espresso maker to replace the broken one my spouse insists on using (and burning himself with). It’s just a little smallish compared to the old one, though they’re both supposedly 4-cuppers (that’s 4 espresso-sized cups, btw). Also, beware that the handle, though made of thick plastic, will still be pretty hot when it’s done making espresso, so use caution! However, it’s still WAYYY better than the other old one I had, which was the super-cheap kind made of some kind of chrome-painted aluminum that flaked apart and started to leak through the seals after just a couple of months. *This* one, on the other hand, is made entirely of stainless steel (except for the handle and nub on the top), and has a silicone gasket rather than a cheap rubber one. The bottom discolors a little after the first use, but that’s normal for stainless. Also, be careful not to leave water or coffee sitting stagnant in it for long periods of time, or even stainless steel will rust. Overall, I love this little espresso maker and I hope it lasts me a really long time (I think it will!). :)
