    Dimitry Angert says:

I have purchased a manual model about a year ago as a backup for my bigger Coffee-Tech 2.5lb Torrefattore roaster. I also use it as a sample roaster. This is a great little device that is capable of roasting enough coffee for a week in one or two batches. Since I have owned previously hot air roasters (Hearthware Precision and I-Roast 2) I can comment that I definitely prefer roasts from FZ-RR 700, which are rounder, sweeter, more aromatic and have fuller flavor spectrum. I also like the full control over heating and mixing that this device offers, allowing to explore the influence of faster or slower heating on flavor profile.

While this device shines in roasting, the convenience (or better lack of convenience) features may not fit everyone. While you don’t need a vent and there is almost no chaff escaping the drum, you will still need to take care of cooling and chaff separation (I use two colanders for this). Bean inspection during roasting is also not very convenient. Those are the reasons I rated it four and not five stars.

On the other hand, it’s simplicity and durability is definitely a big plus as opposed to most other home roasting appliances made with use of plastic and containing electronic components that tend to fail at some point.

Using Coffee-Tech’s Torrefattore (1 Kg) roasting machine for over 5 years now, I was glad to find out I am now able to have a mobile roasting machine to use at home and at friends’ houses, BBQs etc. This all copper machine gives excellent results and can even roast blends perfectly. I just love it !

    Joseph Finkelstein says:

When we were in the States we used a hot air roaster for our green beans. Now that we’re overseas I was introduced to the Coffee-tech roaster via a demonstration and my wife and I immediately bought one. The roaster is very easy to use. We roast 200 grams at a time over a gas burner and get excellent control and even distribution of the roasted beans. We have roasted our beans both manually and with the Coffee-tech motor. I can’t necessarily taste the difference between the hot air and the flame roasted coffee, but it certainly makes exceptional coffee and and we are quite satisfied with our purchase. In addition we have found the owner of the company, Mr. Ram Evgi, extremely knowledgeable and helpful and he answered all our questions.

    A. Tushinsky says:

This machine is intended for home use, it can even take around 8-10

ounces per cycle, easy to use, simple tool and cool design.

I have it a year, every 2nd Saturday I am roasting a great coffee blend

which makes my friends and family visit me mainly for the coffee… it

is roasted like 150-200 years ago in Italy, with a high quality resault

which makes every cup of coffee a fiesta to the mouth.

My personal opinion is that for the price range it is the best product

Vs. the hot wind technology of the other machines which dry’s out the

    beans.

Another thing to know is that coffee green beans cost less than half

of the roasted coffe which is under different labels.

I recommend the electric model, but the manual is also a great fun.

    My Rating: 5 / 5 stars
