A lot of people just cannot get going in the morning without their daily shot of coffee. There are several different types of coffee machines that can you make that first pot of coffee and they all have their good sides and not so good sides.
Types Of Coffee Machines
Probably the most basic type of coffee machine that many will remember from their childhood is the percolator. This machine isn't really complex. There is a pot, with a small built in metal filter and basket with a tube going from the bottom of the pot up into the basket. When the water in the body of the pot boils, the water is drawn up the tub into the basket of coffee. As the boiling water rolls through the coffee grounds, coffee is made. These were originally built to be placed directly on a burner on the stove but today they are built for counter top use and are plugged in.
An automatic drip coffee machine is probably the most common today. These sit on your countertop and include a glass carafe for the coffee to drip into. There is a warming plate under the carafe to keep the coffee warm. Water is placed into the reservoir, and after the coffee machine is switched on, the water is forced through the basket area where the coffee grounds are placed in a filter. These are very simple to use and make a decent pot of coffee.
The newest coffee machine on the market today is the pod system. Each coffee machine has its own specific brand of pod and that is the only type of pod that can be used in that specific machine. The pods themselves come in a fairly wide variety of flavors so it is not hard to find the coffee you like. Often a pod will produce one cup of coffee, which is great if you only want a single cup of coffee. If you like having an entire pot at hand, a pod coffee machine may not be the best machine for you.
Finding a coffee machine that works best for you won't be very hard. There are a fairly wide variety of coffee machines on the market and many have very nice features that you may pay extra for, but are probably worth it. Imagine waking up in the morning to a fresh, full carafe of coffee just waiting for you. All you have to do is find a good coffee machine and you'll be all set.

Much of its aroma or flavour will be lost because of the exposure and improper heating. Later coffee making methods underwent many changes. In an endeavour to make tasty coffee, using hygienic methods, machines were introduced. Today there are many types of coffee machines available in the market. Machines adopting different technologies and with varying capacities are introduced in the market to cater the needs of the consumers.
Dip brewing is a very common method. To make a few cups of coffee at a time, a machine with one to four cup capacity can be preferred. Uniform heat will be applied to attain the required temperature for the brewing. In some models, the water holder is detachable. It will facilitate to remove the water holder for the purpose of filling water. In some other models burr grinders are used in the place of blade grinders, to avoid the beans getting burnt due to inherent friction. Some of the machines will provide for detachable grinders, but it will occupy more counter space. To store the prepared coffee for a longer time, it is better to go for a thermal pot. The Insulated pot will retain the heat and aroma of the coffee. Glass pots or carafes are also available. Many new features are incorporated in modern coffee machines. Cone shaped filter baskets will facilitate water to flow evenly and to make the coffee more consistent. Timers are provided in the machines for the convenience of the user. Coffee can be ground and mixed with water before going to bed. The timers which are programmed will enable to start brewing process in the early morning automatically.
Similarly, extra large pots for making several cups of coffee at a time are available. Stainless steel body will help to maintain uniform temperature throughout. Stainless steel products are easy to clean and can be maintained hygienically. Latest models of coffee making machines are more energy efficient and equipped with facilities to collect residual substances after brewing. A special purpose tray will be provided for the purpose. In a bean to cup model, the beans stored in the hopper will be ground in the inner chamber. In the espresso models an electric pump will emit hot water forcefully to the ground coffee. In another model known as lever coffee machine, a hand operated mechanism will pump hot water to the ground beans. The pod coffee machine has the provision to store ground beans in the pod and hot water will be pumped with sufficient force to make a very consistent beverage.

Believe it or not, there are eight different types of espresso makers. The first, and most common one to find in homes in Spain, Portugal and Italy, is the stovetop espresso maker. There are three chambers, the top holding the ground coffee, the middle being a filter basket and the bottom holds the water. As the water is heated, it forces steam up through a tube to the second chamber, then the top, making espresso that is ready to serve.
A steam espresso maker is very similar to a stovetop one, and produces a cup of espresso that is nearly identical. A piston-driven espresso maker is another beast entirely. This type of espresso maker comes in high end designs that can cost several hundreds of dollars. Ornate and exquisite, they can be made out of brass, copper, chrome or silver.
Also, the piston-driven espresso maker is what made the crema a desirable trait in a cup of the drink. Before, the crema was thought of as an unwanted waste product.
The piston-driven espresso machine gave birth to its pump-driven counterpart. Small, simple and ideal for home use, it is also the most popular machine found in American coffee shops. A motor-driven pump does the work that manual force used to, making this version very easy to operate.
There are also semi automatic and automatic espresso machines, the former is automatic in the way that the water is delivered from a pump instead of manual force. The latter allows the user to send a programmed amount of water through the flow meter.
Super automatic espresso machines are even easier to operate, since they literally do all of the work for you. From grinding to tamping and extracting, getting a perfect cup of espresso has never been easier. Fully self contained, all you have to do is fill the water reservoir and bean hopper. The antithesis of the Presso manually operated coffee press, these are more expensive but completely fool proof.

Coffee machines have not only grown in popularity, but have become much more sophisticated that the early models of old.
Today, you can program a coffee machine for early morning breakfast; utilize gourmet coffee machines to make a tasty cup of espresso or cappuccino; or use a simpler coffee machine wherein you can have a cup of java at any time of the day.
It is currently estimated that there are over 100 million cups of coffee drunk every day. In fact, the U.S. and Scandinavia boast the highest amount of coffee usage. Although percolators have almost been replaced by drip coffee machines, there are still individuals who utilize the former rather than the latter.
There may be a variety of reasons why some households still choose percolators over coffee machines. It may be that some drip coffee machines to not maintain heat as well; or perhaps automatic coffee machines turn off at a certain point; or there is a problem with the decanter; or it may be that having a percolated cup of coffee tastes somewhat better than that which comes from a coffee machine.
Whatever the reason, today you can find coffee machines for a variety of households; from one cup to ten cups or more. In today’s economy, however, prices of food, milk, and especially coffee have risen. When you add to this the fact that many years ago drinking several cups of coffee was not considered a healthy part of one’s diet regimen; today the tide has turned once again and coffee is considered a good thing.
Coffee machines brought the emergence of flavored coffees from around the world. Though quite high in cost, nonetheless, individuals flocked to these coffee houses to have a cup of this rich brew. At the same time, percolators and drip coffee machines would continue to be used in households.
However, many of the well-known coffee houses who charged an exorbitant amount of money for a cup of coffee have now turned towards decreasing the cost due to an economic recession. Although individuals still choose to forgo making a cup of java at home and prefer, instead, to buy a cup of coffee on their way to work. Others, on the other hand, choose not to buy a can or bag of coffee but rather buy a cup at their local convenience store or coffee house.
It seemed inevitable, then, that because there are millions of people who drink coffee that technology needed to take a giant leap forward in order to accommodate coffee drinkers at large and offer a coffee machine that could be programmed to do everything except serve.
For those who still own percolators and who refuse to spend a handsome sum of money to purchase coffee machines, take heart. Percolators are still available, although you may need to research the internet to find them.
